Evaluation question 2

How does your music product represent particular social groups?
Comparing the image on my front cover with this image of Swedish house mafia it shows that this is the type of image I wanted to aim for, I wanted it to be simple and using no props and the models I used are both looking straight at the camera. However my image is in colour which I thought would stand out more therefore attracting more people to buy it.  As well as this my image is bright which will make it stand out, which is important for a new music magazine to attract an audience.

Evaluations question 3
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I have chosen to distribute my product with Bauer, this is because Bauer is the bigger distributer and I feel Bauer will have more experience with distributing even though they do not have a magazine within my genre. As well as distributing my magazine I could also set up an online copy of the magazine. This would allow a wider range of audience to be able to view my magazine. I could also create a mobile phone app to allow people to read my magazine on their phone as technology is always advancing and some people may prefer to read magazines in this way. This will apply to the younger audience and an audience who have smart phone which will be aimed at my target audience of 17-24 year olds.

Evaluation question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product?

My target audience would be from teen to early twenties of both male and female gender as I don’t want to promote this magazine for one more than the other. It contains a range of music from well-known bands to not so well known bands which will widen the range of people who will be attracted to this magazine. The target audience would have to have quite a broad music taste as this magazine will cover a few various genres. This will mean that my magazine is created for the mass market rather than a niche market which will help create more revenue as it will allow a wider target audience.

Evaluation question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

One way in which I attracted the audience was by giving them an opportunity to win a holiday for four people to Ibiza which is a large party city; this attracts the audience because they will be more likely to spend the small amount of money when they feel they are likely to win a holiday as well as this because of the age range that is magazine is aimed at it is more likely to attract more buyers as they are all around they age when partying and going abroad is something they all want.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

By using a computer I have easily managed to upload and view my images. I have managed to create a blog where I uploaded images and text. Also it has allowed me to use several useful programs and websites when researching and constructing my product e.g. Photoshop and blogger. By using a camera and I tripod together I have managed to create the images I wanted with minimal use of editing. Using a tripod it allowed me to take a clear image that might have been difficult to capture if I did not have a tripod. I learnt that I did need to use a tripod through carrying out a preliminary task were I found it difficult to take a picture that was clear. By using a Card reader I uploaded my images to the computer so I could then go on to edit them. By using Photoshop I edited my images for my magazine. I got rid of any imperfections and any blemishes on the people in the images as well as change the level of the image, to create contrast and brightness.

I used blogger to create my blog and to upload images and text. Using blogger it was easy to organise my work and present it.

By using prezi I found it easy to analyse my work and present the conventions found on the cover of a music magazine, also by using prezi it allowed me to show my research in a different way that was clear and interesting. I used google to carry out reseach surrouinding the possible market type and audience I could aim my magazine at. I used flickr as another means to analyse my work and analyse different music magazine covers to see the different conventions.

Looking back at your preliminary task (the school magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Comparing my prelim take to my actual task I have found that my skills have improved and I have learnt to use more technology to present and create my work. For example for my prelim task I used publisher to create my pages which didn’t allow me to edit the image whereas in my actual I used photo shop which allowed me to adjust levels and remove any imperfections on the images. As well as this I have learnt persuasive techniques and what to use to attract an` audience
