Trivial
Poker. The new up and coming band of 2012. With their rock/indie style and
songs that actually mean something. We expect a lot from these boys. With their
first album ‘parasite’ to be released in May of this year I’ve been asked to
interview the boys about how they have come to be.
They strolled in looking so simple but following they’re
general style of jeans and checks. “Alright boys? How excited are you seeing
your name in lights?” lead singer Joe replied with a cheeky “hell yeah!” he
continued with “I don’t think any of us ever expected this. I mean in the space
of a year we’ve gone from playing in Corey’s garage to writing a whole album!”
you can see the genuine excitement of the boys faces. As they made themselves
comfortable and popped open a bottle at 11.40 am, they really are living the
life of luxury. After playing a track which is yet to be released the question
of what inspired them is on everyone’s mind. “We didn’t really have one
inspiration for this album a lot of thing inspired us. Each song is based on
something different; it stops our songs being the same” when they discuss their
music you can hear the passion in their voices, they have worked so hard to get
to this point but how are they handling the fame? And the girls? Guitarist
Lewis admits “I don’t think it’s quite hit us yet. We’ve been so busy with the
album to notice” Joe interrupted “a group of girl chased me down the high
street the other day screaming. It came as quite a shock. Can’t say I’m
complaining though haha” they are clearly loving all the female attention as
the all smirk and grin.
With the album being released so close to summer we can’t
help but wonder if the boys have any festivals planned this season. “Our manager
has organised a few appearances for us on a couple of the smaller stages. But
hey, we can’t wait. We’ve been going to festivals since we were 16. We’ve we
crazy not to be excited” stated Joe. The last question and the one that is on
everybody’s mind have the boys laughing as they reveal their relationship
status… “Can’t keep a player down” exclaimed Joe, whereas Corey timidly
disclosed that is his happily taken. Lucky for us girls drummer Matt and basest
Lewis as single.
